Involvement Opportunities
Golden Bull Activities
Committee
The
Golden Bull Activities Committee (GBAC) assists the
Office of Student Activities in creating, implementing
and evaluating cultural, social, educational and
entertaining activities for students. The committee is
comprised of students who are interested in program
planning and implementation. Along with the executive
board, the group consists of several committees
including: afternoon entertainment, special events,
talks and lecture, cultural awareness, spirit and
traditions, performing arts, and publicity. The
committee meets weekly to plan, explore ideas, and
assess student interest in proposed projects.
Student
Organizations
Johnson
C. Smith University has over 100 student organizations
to choose from — offering something for every interest
and a place for every person. Organizations are
categorized into seven groups: special interest,
religious, honor society, fraternity/sorority/social
fellowship, sports & recreation, academic and service.
Intramural
and Recreational Games
The
Intramural and Recreational Games Program provides an
opportunity for students, not participating in
intercollegiate athletics, to engage in supervised
competitions with other students, faculty, and staff.
Activities such as flag football, basketball, billiards,
ping pong, and card tournaments take place throughout
the year. Additional programs for exercise and physical
development, such as aerobics and kickboxing, are also
incorporated in the schedule of events.
Leadership
Development Opportunities
The
University offers dozens of opportunities for student to
gain leadership skills and training that will be
beneficial to their post-undergraduate experience. Such
initiatives include the Emerging Leaders Program,
Student Organization Leadership Conference, and
leadership workshop series. Through these programs and
others, students will 1) gain a conceptual knowledge of
leadership for self development, 2) will increase their
understanding of effective organizational management,
and 3) will establish relationships with campus
administrators and community members.
Student
Employment
The
office provides various opportunities for students to
gain experience in event programming and union
operations through employment. Such areas include game
room management, intramural and recreational sports
operations, and office administration.
