Men
:
  •  Suit – Conservative and traditional business suits are recommended.  Dark colors such as navy blue,  charcoal gray and coffee beige are the preferred colors.

[Note: a suit is and should always be your first choice to wear to an interview. But if you do not have one, a navy blue jacket or blazer and a pair of gray or beige pants (not khaki) are acceptable.  When using this alternative look, go from dark color on top, to light color on the bottom.]

  • Shirt - Solid white, long sleeved is the first choice. Light blues, tans, and yellows are second choices. The colors should be pale and never bright.

  • Tie - Conservative silk, solid, or patterned

  • Shoes – Black or brown dress shoes.

  • Socks – over the calf, dark and plain, never anything in the red family. No white socks.

  • Accessories - Pockets handkerchiefs, earrings, fraternity pins, shiny or large rings (diamonds, etc.), are not appropriate for the interview.  Belts should match your shoes.  If you wear cologne, wear very little.  Nails must be short, neat, and clean.

Women :

  • A conservative business skirt suit.  Basic medium to dark colors such as navy blue, gray, black,   or  dark brown.  If you do not have a business skirt suit, a two-piece dress, skirt and blazer, or a dress and jacket are acceptable.  Avoid short skirts and always remember that you want to look business-like not SEXY.
  • Panty hose/hosiery - Always wear stockings/hosiery.  Neutral color - the color of your legs, or slightly darker, nothing too light.  NO RUNS.
  •  Shoes – polished and closed toe basic dark pumps.  Heels should never be higher than 2½ inches.
  • Nails – neutral colors, not chipped. If you have acrylic/gel nails, “active” is the longest acceptable length.
  • Make-up – minimal, for daytime wear only.
  • Jewelry – conservative and basic.  If you have more than one hole in your ear, only wear earrings in the first hole.  Necklaces should remain simple!  No ankle bracelets!

For Both :

  • No chewing gum
  • One ring per hand with the exception of a wedding set.
  • Pen and portfolio.
