Checking for the version

Objective: To learn how to check for the current version of Trend Office ScanSoftware and how to update that software, if necessary.

• Point to the Trend Office Scan  icon in the System Tray of the Task Bar.     

• A pop up box should appear, similar to the example shown here:

• You will need to keep abreast of the latest Pattern version. If it is the latest, there is nothing else to do. If it is lower than the latest Pattern version, do the following:

  • Shut down the computer and restart. (Do not restart, shut-down the computer.)

  • Check the Pattern version upon logging back on. If it is the latest, there is nothing else to do. If it is lower than the latest Pattern version, do the following:

• Look for any other virus software that may be loaded on the computer (try looking in Control Panel/Add Remove Programs.)

• If you find that there is other virus software, follow the instructions on Virus Software: Installation of TrendMicro Office Scan NT. Follow those instructions EXACTLY as written.

If the TrendMicro Office Scan software find files with viruses and cannot clean them, this software will move the infected files to:

• C:\OfficeScanNT\Aubackup

• C:\OfficeScanNT\Suspect

You will need to delete these files. To delete these files, the virus software needs to be turned off. You can do this by doing the following:

• Click Start/Settings/Control Panel.
• Select Administrative Tools.
• Select Services.
• Right click Office Scan NT Real Time Scan and then click Stop. (NOTE: The icon for the virus software will turn red.)
• Delete the infected files.

• Go back into Control Panel, select Administrative Tools, and then select Services.
• Right click Office Scan NT Real Time Scan and then click Start. (NOTE: the icon for the virus software will turn blue again.) 
• Close Services and Control Panel.

Use one of the methods below to update TrendMicro

Method 1:

·        Right Click: Office Scan Icon in the System Tray (located at the bottom right corner)

·        Next Click: Update Now!

·        Click: Update Now

Method 2:

• Click Start and then Run

• In the Open input box,
  type \\10.12.1.12

• Click OK

·        Click to open the ofcscan folder

• Click to open the Anti Virus Folder.

• Double-click Antivirus.

·       On the File Download dialog box, click Open.

Once this command window appears allow it to run until it automatically closes. Do     not close.
