Note: This position is live-in and candidate must be able to provide day, evening, weekend, and on-call hours; flexibility is a must.
Responsibilities: The Residence Hall Coordinator I(RHC), manages the activities of assigned residence hall(s), ensuring the provision of appropriate authority and leadership that supports students both academically and interpersonally. The RHC provides 24/7 coverage of assigned residence hall and others as required based on the needs of the division, including evening and weekend coverage as well as on-call coverage during evenings, weekends and holidays as scheduled. He/She coordinates and participates in the planning, development and implementation of educational and special programming for residential students including, but not limited to, healthy living and learning communities. Moreover, the RHC assists in the training, development and supervision of Resident Advisors (RAs).
Residence Hall Coordinators are designated as Essential Personnel for the purposes of emergency planning and management. Therefore, the RHC works with the Campus Police to develop a comprehensive safety program for assigned residence hall, responds to residence hall emergencies, conducts fire and emergency drills as scheduled, and summons emergency personnel as needed. The Residence Hall Coordinator I, reports to the Assistant Dean of Health and Wellness.
Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree is required. A Master’s degree in Student Personnel is helpful. CPR and first aid certification preferred. Candidates must be flexible, have a strong customer orientation, and be able to work well in a collaborative team environment. The equivalent combination of education and related work experience may be considered.
