EVENING LIBRARY ASSISTANT II

Note: This is a temporary to permanent position.
Responsibilities: Under the direct supervision of the Evening Library Supervisor the Evening Library Assistant II will perform the acquisitions process for new books, gift books, audio-visual materials, and standing orders for the library by conducting searches in bibliographic databases, preparing requisitions, and receiving purchase order numbers. Place orders for materials using the appropriate electronic ordering software or place direct orders. Receive and process incoming acquisitions mail and shipments to verify accuracy of order fulfillment. Claim materials that are not received from the vendor. Prepare and maintain records relative to acquisition activities. Complete physical processing of new books, gift books, and media materials, i.e. labeling, stripping, stamping, applying barcodes, etc. Organize access to media equipment for faculty and staff by arranging, delivering, and setting up equipment. Maintain usage records and inventory of media equipment. Perform evening circulation activities and closing of the library at night. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: A minimum of an associate’s degree is required. Candidate should be proficient in record keeping, typing, advance computer skills, and familiar with library automation systems. Good customer services skills and knows how to work independently and collaboratively. Prefer someone who has worked as acquisition assistant or library assistant in a public or academic library. The equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.
