Responsibilities: This position provides vision and oversight to the Administrative Computing Services Unit. This individual is responsible for implementing and sustaining best practices related to daily operation of the University’s Administrative Computing Systems. This individual will be responsible to maintain and build relationships with the end user community for the University. The Administrative Computing Services Manager provides supervision and leadership to the Administrative Computing Services staff and manages the workload for the ACS unit.
The Administrative Computing Service Unit is responsible for administration, management, and programming of the University’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, the University's campus-wide administrative software including coordination across the institution's functional areas of Admissions, Business Office, Financial Aid, Human Resources, Payroll, and Fiscal Operations.
Direct technical responsibility includes:
Jenzabar EX, PowerFaids
JICS, Blackboard Transcact
Raiser’s Edge, SQL Query Languages
Powerbuilder Reporting Tools, Learning Management Systems
The Administrative Computing Services Manager works in concert with the Director of Information Technology to determine the administrative service requirements for the University. Including:
- Consultation for the selection of new software solutions.
- Project management of new system development.
- Project management of enhancements to existing administrative systems.
- Modifications of these systems to meet federal, state, and local regulations.
- Providing on-site technical support for vendor supplied and maintained systems.
- Responsibility for ongoing maintenance of existing systems.
Current working software knowledge:
SQL Server, T-SQL, RDBMS Tool sets (DBArtisan,), IIS, Tom Cat, Some HTML ,Jenzabar EX, JICS, Raiser’s Edge, PowerFaids, Web Portal Technology, other software used by the Johnson C. Smith University campus.
RDBMS best practice and experience with database objects such as (Tables, Indexes, Stored Procedures, Triggers, etc)
An understanding of network infrastructure and network management best practices
An understanding of project management and how to implement IT solutions according to a project plan
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience. Three to five years of progressive management experience, preferably in a higher education environment.
