Position: VISITING ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF RELIGION

This nine-month, non-tenure track appointment begins in August 2015.
Responsibilities: The candidate selected must be prepared to teach a variety of undergraduate courses in religion, with emphasis on Judeo-Christian heritage, history of religion, as well as sociology of religion. The ideal candidate will also be able to teach some philosophy classes focusing on ethics and practical logic as well as theory and research methodology (quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods). The candidate should be prepared to employ active learning strategies and use the latest technology and resources to promote student learning. The candidate will be expected to devise new curriculum, outline program goals and outcomes, develop and utilize appropriate assessment techniques, perform campus service, advise and mentor students, and serve on university-wide committees and initiatives.
Qualifications: Ph.D. in religion, religious studies, or a particular religious faith with the ability to teach multiple faiths in upper division courses as needed. The ideal candidate will have at least 18 graduate credit hours in philosophy. Experience with program development, curriculum design, advising, and assessment are important. Familiarity with and enthusiasm to employ information technology in the classroom are also highly desired. Experience teaching in online learning environments is a plus. Preferred experience in working with a diverse student population with varying levels of ability.
