Welcome to JCSU Campus Police

Campus safety and security are coordinated by Director of Campus Police John O. Williams who reports directly to the Executive Vice-president. The Department operates twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.

Presently, the department consists of the Director John O. Williams and Assistant Director, both sworn officers, seven (7) certified North Carolina police officers; seven (7) full-time security officers and two (2) part-time. Campus police officers have full North Carolina law enforcement authority including the power of arrest. The security officers are armed, but do not have the power of arrest; however, the department has established an excellent working relationship with the  Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department who will immediately respond to our calls for assistance and will coordinate the arrest, if necessary.

The security staff is radio equipped and certified in first aid and CPR. The security staff conducts vehicle, bicycle, and foot patrols. The security staff is charged with many duties including traffic regulations enforcement and the handling of all fire and medical emergencies.
