Johnson C. Smith University has signed Ohio
tennis player Jason Stuckey to a 2006 National
Letter of Intent. Stuckey will become a member
of a Golden Bull squad which won an eighth
straight Western Division title and finished
second in the CIAA conference championships
recently.
Stuckey is the son of John Stuckey and Regina
Stuckey of Cincinnati, Ohio. He attends Walnut
Hills High School in Cincinnati. He is also the
younger brother of current Golden Bull tennis
player and three-time all-conference team
member, Justin Stuckey.
At Walnut Hills, he was tennis MVP and captain
in 2005. He is President of the Student Council
and the Black Engineers and placed second in the
Oratorical Contest.
His teacher James Martin says, “He is a great
player on our solid tennis team and has been
captain for two years. He will be an excellent
college student and in the future a solid leader
of the community.
Stuckey also participated in the Delta Sigma
Theta Beautillion Militaire where he finished
second.
Coach James Cuthbertson said, “I have had the
opportunity to see Jason grow and develop over
the past three years. He is a very quick and
aggressive tennis player and a scholar-athlete
who will enhance our university and our men’s
tennis sports program. I was most impressed with
his serve and volley game that is almost
flawless. He will be a very good player for us.”
Jason plans to major in Marketing.
