(Elliott, SC), and
Marquis Belton (Charlotte, NC) as well as
junior De’Audra Dix
(Merritt Island, FL) have been named to the 2006
Daktronics All-Southeast Region team as selected by
members of the College Sports Information Directors of
America (CoSIDA).
Wilson
was named to the first team defense after leading the
CIAA and Division II in total tackles with 109. He was
named first team All-CIAA and was recently selected to
participate in the Eddie Robinson Motherland Classic to
be held in Abuja, Nigeria (Africa) on December 16, 2006.
He moves on to the national All-America ballot.
Belton, who is six yards shy of becoming the all-time
leading receiver in JCSU history, was named to the
second team for his efforts this season. Belton had 47
receptions for 797 yards and five touchdowns. The
two-time CIAA Wide Receiver of the Week and Don Hansen
Football Gazette National Offensive Player of the Week
led the conference in receptions per game and was second
in receiving yards per game and punt returns.
Dix
was named to the second team on both sides of the ball
as an all-purpose player (offense) and cornerback
(defense). He was named first team All-CIAA on both
offense and defense. He led the CIAA in kick returns
with 17 for 500 yards and three touchdowns, and had 13
deflected passes on the season. He becomes the
first player
in school history to be named all-region on both sides
of the ball.
