Major: Music (concentration in sacred music)

What excites you about your major?

The musicianship and the artistry of the many ways that I can express myself through music. I’m a vocalist personally, so I find most of my passion in my music through vocal formats.

What would you tell future students who are going into your major?

I would tell future students to get prepared. If it’s something that you definitely love, work hard and steady and learn more about it so that your artistry and your musicianship will grow and blossom into something great.

What interesting things are you doing in your major?

I am currently the student director for the Johnson C. Smith concert choir here on campus and on a personal side, I’m also a gospel artist and will be launching an album hopefully in the fall of 2011.

How has JCSU helped you along the path to your future career?

JCSU has molded me into a young man who is more organized, a young man who is more focused, a man who is more direct in the things that I want out of life and the things that I want out of a career. I would definitely say my major being sacred music has definitely shaped me into going into the career choice, which would be gospel recording artist, greatly.
