The Department
of Health and Human Performance encourages its students to
become involved in two student organizations: the Health and
Human Performance (HHP) Majors’ Club and Phi Epsilon Kappa
Honorary Fraternity. The HHP Majors’ Club is open to all
students majoring in HHP academic programs.
Phi Epsilon Kappa Honorary Fraternity is a national professional
fraternity for persons engaged in or pursuing careers in health,
physical education, recreation, or safety. The Beta Xi Chapter
of Phi Epsilon Kappa Honorary Fraternity was chartered on the
campus of Johnson C. Smith University in April of 2006. Any
student with a major or minor in Health Education or Physical
Education may join this organization. The requirements for
membership are: a 2.8 overall gpa, a 3.0 gpa in major,
completion of at least six semester hours in major, and being
free of administrative, social, or academic probation.
The goal of both organizations is to expand student development
and professional opportunities in the health, physical
education, and sport management disciplines. Students interested
in joining the HHP Majors Club may contact Dr. Robert Lyons at:
rlyons@jcsu.edu
or at 704.378.1219. Students interested in joining Phi Epsilon
Kappa Honorary Fraternity may contact Dr. Antonia Mead at:
amead@jcsu.edu or
at 704.378.1236.
