Assistant Professor
Dr.
Satish Bhalla is an Associate Professor
of Computer Science. He has three
Master’s degrees - Computer Science,
Entomology, and Zoology, and a Ph.D. in
Biology. He has been teaching computer
science for over ten years.
Dr. Bhalla has published over 20
articles in refereed scientific
journals. Reviewed articles for Canadian
Journal of Genetics and Cytology.
Received a number of NIH grants
including a five year grant (2005-2010)
to develop an undergraduate curriculum
in Bioinformatics at JCSU. He has
seventeen years experience in the
genetics and ecology of insects. He
supervised a binational biomedical
project involving 30 brazilian and
american staff in Salvador, Bahia,
Brazil.
Dr. Bhalla was instrumental in
establishing an IBM DB2 and an Oracle
curriculum at JCSU. He has been active
in teaching computer skills to visually
impaired students, using adaptive
equipment and software including screen
readers and magnification programs such
as JAWS, Zoom Text, and Reflection. Dr.
Bhalla developed databases for the Fish
and Wild Life Bureau, U.S. Dept. of
Interior., and Environmental Protection
Agency. |
JCSU became one of the first members of the
United Negro College Fund in 1944. |
