Contact Indhu Gopal:

Gopal teaches in the Department of Health and Human Performance. She earned degrees from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, in human physiology (M.S.) and the University of North Carolina, Greensboro, (Ph.D.) in exercise physiology. She emigrated from India where she spent many years learning classical Indian dance-bharatha natyam and yoga. She has presented at many professional conferences, including international presentations. She has also had papers published in many journals and has published a microbiology lab manual. Her research interests include: HIV/AIDS; exercise and obesity; exercise and antioxidants; and pedagogy. She is versatile and has worn several hats, including those of teacher-advisor, mentor, database administrator, programmer, director of information technology and yoga/meditation instructor, to name a few. Her teaching experience includes teaching exercise physiology, kinesiology, psychomotor development, biology, anatomy and physiology, microbiology, yoga and many more courses. She loves to travel, meet people from different cultures and try different ethnic foods. She was involved with the university's study abroad program and accompanied students to Egypt and Israel.
