What You’ll Learn

If you think math education is just about teaching students how to solve algebra problems, you’ll be surprised at how much more you’ll learn in our program.

Math is everywhere you look:

  • The way farmers plant seeds to harvest
  • The games we play
  • How fashion designers engineer their newest collection for the runway

Our lives have so many everyday applications for math that you’re probably unaware you’re even using it.

What will I study as a math education major?

In our math education program, you’ll learn the skills necessary to teach students in grades 9-12 how to solve derivatives, find the solution to matrices and understand algorithms.

You’ll also be able to teach them how the formulas they learn in algebra, geometry and calculus are used in everyday life.

In addition to the required courses in mathematics, you’ll take a variety of courses in education and psychology. These classes will help you develop the insight to teach a diverse classroom with students of different learning abilities and backgrounds.
