Think for a Change

In the Honors College at Johnson C. Smith University, we are cultivating Change Agents!

Through challenging and innovative academics linked with involvement in meaningful community service and justice projects, you can gain the skills to not only engage the "real-world", but also transform it.

The Honors College is designed to draw out your talents through integrated inter-disciplinary courses, opportunities for independent study and involvement in community service.

The Honors College is designed to draw out your talents through integrated inter-disciplinary courses, opportunities for independent study and involvement in community service.

As an Honors College student, you will study wide-ranging topics with a focus on integrating topics for holistic learning. The College’s advanced and intellectually rigorous classes are ideal for those looking for a challenge.  Beginning in the freshman year, students participate in Advanced Freshman Studies where they receive advanced studies in science, social sciences, humanities, mathematics and foreign languages, along with an introduction to the interdisciplinary approach to the “Forum” course.

Successful participants are then invited to join the Honors College program in the sophomore year based on their grade performance, high school preparation, and SAT scores as well as recommendations from University and high school instructors.
