PHASES
HONORS COLLEGE requirements and expectations
are structured
around a curriculum that is designed in four phases. Each phase
is linked to a year’s work in the program.
Freshman Year:
Phase I, Exploration and Inquiry
Students begin to explore
an interest in various academic areas and achieve independence as
learners.
Sophomore Year:
Phase II, Involvement and Breadth of Learning
Having explored and undergone self-evaluation, students begin
to define domains of personal interest for their involvement and
competency.
Junior Year:
Phase III, Commitment and Cross-Disciplinary Conversations
Students
identify an area of special interest and competency and then begin
an in-depth study of that domain with a wider scope of vision.
Senior Year:
Phase IV, Integration and Synthesis
Students begin to see that special competency development
establishes a stage for extending their learning. Their learning
begins a new cycle of mastery and development.
