WELLNESS [WEL
BIN]
|
|
The key to
classification of a course into the Wellness BIN is a primary
focus in the domain of practical wellness. That is, a course
in the wellness domain should aim to provide students with
practical competencies relevant to their physical, emotional,
social, or spiritual well-being and to their ability to cope
effectively with challenges to that well being. To be
categorized into the “Wellness” bin, a course should:
-
Significantly engage the student in experiences, processes,
and/or exercises that substantially enhance the student’s
practical ability to enjoy an active, “well” lifestyle or to
deal with unavoidable health challenges.
-
Permit
each student significant degree of flexibility in
establishing wellness goals and self-direction in developing
and executing plans for achievement of those goals.
-
Include a
significant degree of focus on practical skills, and dealing
with the appreciation or understanding of sports and the
relationship and impact of sports in the context of society.
