Contact Nicola Davis Bivens:

Nicola Davis Bivens is an assistant professor of criminology. She holds her Ed.D. in higher education with a concentration in criminal justice, her M.S. in criminal justice and her B.S. in criminal justice. Dr. Davis Bivens is unique in that she also has practitioner experience in various local, state and federal criminal justice organizations. She has continuing education and training through the Department of Homeland Security Federal Emergency Management Agency, Emergency

Management Institute, North Carolina Center for Public Health School of Public Health, The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is a graduate of the North Carolina Justice Academy.

She is an active member of various criminal justice and community organizations and serves on the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners Criminal Justice Advisory Board and is the state cochair of the Education Committee for North State Law Enforcement Officers Association. She is also a research and practitioner consultant for for the United States Department of Justice - National Institute of Justice.

Dr. Davis Bivens has won numerous awards and recognitions, including being recognized as a Subject Matter Expert in Corrections for the 2009 Blackboard Catalyst Award for an Exemplary Course Program, 2009 Associate Member of the Year by North State Law Enforcement Officers Association and twice recognized in Whos Who Among Americas Teachers (2005-2006; 2006-2007). She is the 2012 CATO Par Excellence Teaching Award recipient.

An avid reader, she is the proud mother of a teenage son.
