Our Majors
Biology
The major in biology
requires introductory courses (Botany and Zoology) as well as
coursework at a higher level, with a grade of C or higher in all
courses required for the major. Our requirements for a Biology
degree have changed recently. Select the date you entered/will

A minor in biology
requires 18 credit hours of biology courses and a grade of C or
better in all courses counting toward the minor. The university
catalog contains more information.
Chemistry
The major in
chemistry requires a minimum of 38 credit hours of specified
chemistry, physics, and mathematics courses and a grade of C or
better to satisfy graduation requirements. Use our

A minor in chemistry
requires a minimum of 18 credit hours of specified chemistry
courses, and also specified physics courses. For complete
details, see the university catalog.
General Science
The general
science major provides opportunities for students to acquire
knowledge of fundamental concepts, problems, and methods of
inquiry in areas of the biological and physical sciences,
mathematics, and computer science. Students can prepare for
professional careers as laboratory and research assistants and
other support positions in the science and health field, or for
entry into professional schools of medicine, dentistry, and
pharmacy.
The major requires
introductory courses in biology, chemistry, mathematics,
computer science and physics plus 15 credit hours in courses
about the introductory level in an area of concentration
(biology, chemistry, computer science or math) and 3 hours of
course work above the introductory level in another of the

a C or higher in all courses required for their major.
Mathematics
The mathematics major
prepares students for careers in industry, business, government
and education, prepares students for graduate school, provides
skills in mathematics and physics for every day life and helps
to develop appreciation for the role of mathematics and physics
in the modern world. This major requires a minimum of 53
semester hours of math, physics and computer science, including
a set of core courses. Please see our

A minor in
mathematics consists of at least 18 credit hours of mathematics
courses and must include Math 241, 242, 33 and 336.
Mathematics Education
The mathematics
education major requires courses in mathematics, education,
