Social Studies Education Concentration
The goals of the Social Studies
Education are:
-
To help students become
complete human beings who can contribute to the
development of society.
-
To ensure that students will
acquire an understanding of the social, political,
geographical, economic, and historic forces operating in
society.
-
To provide in-depth
preparation in history and the social sciences.
-
To train effective teachers
by providing for the development of the skills required
to formulate teaching objectives, use resources, select
content, use effective teaching strategies, evaluate
learning outcomes, and interact with students, parents,
and others.
-
To promote a love of
learning that can be transferred to students.
The prospective teacher should
meet with the Coordinator of Social Studies Education.
Students desiring licensure-only for social studies
