Political Science
Whether your interest lies in American politics,
international affairs, critical issues such as health, law,
public administration, the environment, or civil rights,
then political science at JCSU may be right for you. You
will enjoy these subjects and much more to help you pursue
your goal of a career or graduate study in the field.
In addition to providing our students with excellent
learning experiences, our political science department also
offers various extracurricular activities, including
participation in student clubs, honor societies, moot court,
as well as legislative processes through organizations such
as the North Carolina Student Legislature and the Model
United Nations. Of particular interest is the opportunity to
attend national and international conferences and to visit
other countries with student exchange programs.
One other area of our success is the ability to help our
political science majors secure internships and get
admission into graduate schools. Many of our graduates now
occupy various high level positions in federal, state and
local governments, as well as in law, business,
international organizations, nonprofit organizations,
campaign management, and journalism. There are many career
opportunities just waiting for you as a political science
major.
