History

Our history program at JCSU offers intensive and diverse courses in American, African-American, African, European, Women’s and other interesting areas of history. Majoring in history can prepare you for an enormous range of career possibilities including teaching, government, business, law, journalism or for graduate study – just to name a few. With the language and analytical skills, advanced technology, and internships opportunities that you will receive as a history major, your possibilities here are endless.

Because of our small classes, our expert history professors will provide one-on-one attention to assist you in your courses and to help you map out your career or graduate school goals. In short, your success is our goal.

Your time at JCSU as a history major will be well spent participating in club activities, learning from fascinating professors and guest speakers, and taking class trips. In addition, our department provides students with workshops and events that help in your career and job search.

Our course offerings appear below. Please click on the course for its description. If you have questions about our history department, please feel free to contact Dr. Deborah Carter Quick at (704) 378-1166 or dcarter@jcsu.edu or you may contact Dr. Eugene Hermitte, Associate Professor of History at (704) 378-1059 or ehermitte@jcsu.edu.
