Art

Art classes encompass drawing and painting as well as art appreciation.

The purpose of drawing and painting is a hand-on introduction to basic design, learning about structural concepts, the principles of visual organization and the theories of color mixing and interaction.  Students use various media to apply the principles of design to two-dimensional art.

Art Appreciation develops an awareness of the visual world of art.  The objective of this course is to survey art by style, movement, artist, and work from prehistoric through contemporary times; while Afro-American Art History examines over two hundred years of black creative efforts.
