As part of their summer internship through the Duke University Nicholas School of the Environment, JCSU students investigated a Go Green initiative for students, faculty and staff that involved gathering information about the JCSU campus culture and brainstorming ideas. Next, they held a focus group to gather ideas and feedback from students and spoke to the STEM class about previous work experience, summer activities and the MEM program at Duke.
The students also drafted a document with suggestions for Go Green events and initiatives based on best practice examples, surveys for faculty, staff and students. The students developed an awareness campaign with a slogan and logo contest. Results from the surveys will help identify which faculty and staff members are willing to serving in sustainability leadership positions on campus.
