"Maxyme" Film Screening
"Maxyme" is a short experimental narrative film. The movie
was shot in Savannah, Ga. last year with the assistance of three
JCSU Communication Arts students. JCSU faculty member John Fitch III
produced the film. There will be two showings Wednesday at 4 p.m.
and 7 pm. The film will be shown in the Newson Humanities Building
in Room 108. Admission is free, but seating will be limited. Please
get there early.

Civil Activist to Speak at JCSU
| Acclaimed Civil Rights Activist and President
Emeritus of the A. Philip Randolph Institute Norman A. Hill,
will speak on his experiences with the Civil Rights Movement
and his involvement with The March on Washington for Jobs and
Freedom on August 28, 1963. Hill's presentation will take
place at 6 p.m Sunday in Grimes Lounge. All University
faculty, staff and students are invited to attend. |

Payroll Change for Non-Exempt Employees
Recent changes in the
Fair Labor Standards Act have led many employers, including Johnson
C. Smith University, to review the classification of jobs as it
relates to eligibility for overtime. To ensure campus-wide
compliance with the revised regulations, all non-exempt employees
will be paid bi-weekly effective March 1, 2005. In an effort to
provide both employees and supervisors with accurate and timely
information, a mandatory meeting will be conducted from 9 until
10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Jane M. Smith Memorial
Church.

JCSU Blood Drive
The Office of
Continuing Education in conjunction with the adult students will
host a Blood Drive, Thursday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. in Conference
Rooms B/C in the Student Union building.

Career Fair looking for JCSU Students
JCSU sophomores, juniors and seniors need to mark your
calendars to attend the Metrolina Consortium Career Fair on Friday,
February 18, 2005 from 9 am until 1 pm at the Charlotte Airport
Sheraton Hotel, on 3315 South I-85 at Billy Graham Parkway.
Applicant will have opportunities for internships and full-time
employment. If you decide to attend, professional business dress is
required. Also, please bring copies of your resume. Transportation
will be provided for JCSU students. A shuttle van will depart from
the Office of Career Services (Johnson Cottage across the street
from the Security booth at the main entrance of the University)
every 30 minutes beginning at 8:30 am. Questions: Contact the Office

Interested in Law School?
Representatives from
at least three law schools will be on campus from noon to 4 p.m.
February 24 in Grimes Lounge to talk to JCSU students interested in
law school. Students, faculty and staff are invited to this free
information session. So far, law schools that have confirmed are
Wake Forest, Duke University and Thurgood Marshall School of
Law.

JCSU Literary Magazine Searching for
Writers
Do you write or
appreciate poetry? Can you tell a story? Can you present insightful
topics in a creative essay? If you answered "yes" to one or more of
the following questions, then Trewell Literary Magazine editors
would like to talk to you. An interest meeting will be held 10 a.m.
Thursday in Room 108 of the Humanities Building.
