The weekend of February 15, 2008, was designated as "Curly Neal Weekend" during which the Harlem Globetrotters retired No. 22, the jersey number that Freddie "Curly" Neal made famous during his 22 seasons with the team.  As the fifth globetrotter to have his number retired, Curly Neal joins Meadowlark Lemon and Wilt Chamberlain in a very exclusive club. This is a special honor that our alumnus deserves and we congratulate him.

Congratulations to Stan Frazier on his appointment as principal of Albemarle Road Elementary School in Charlotte, N.C.

Class of 1978
Congratulations to state Representative Larry D. Hall who was chosen as the grand marshal of the sixth annual Durham MLK Jr. holiday parade held January 19, 2008 in Durham, N.C.

Class of 1995
Chad Lassiter received the MLK Community Involvement Award on January 23rd at the thirteenth annual Interfaith Commemoration of the Life of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The article stated that Lassiter's research interest attempts to contribute to a more informed analysis of the diverse ways that adolescents and families, especially people of color, cope with socioeconomic challenges and institutional racism. In May 2004, Lassiter was named in Who's Who Among African Americans 17th along with such nobles as Michael Jordan and Colin Powell. He has worked on peace and poverty related issues both in Africa and Israel.

Class of 1999

The Emma Awards is the premier awards event for readers and authors of black romance. To view the nominated cover, log on to http://www.cherishodges.com/ or www.myspace.com/cherishodges
