"The Gift" in The Charlotte
Observer, featured Mabel Washington Brown, a
teacher at Thomasboro Elementary School, on what she remembers after
37 years of student gifts, holiday gifts, and year-end teaching
appreciation gifts. Brown talked about gifts of jewelry, mugs, pins,
and even produce from parents that lived in the rural community
outside of Charleston, S.C. where Brown grew up and taught for
more than 20 years.
