Class of 1950Dr. Noble Cooper was the 2006 Honoree at The Everett L. Dargan Scholarship Endowment Gala in Columbia, S.C on October 19, 2006. The Everett L. Dargan Scholarship Endowment was established by the University of South Carolina School (USC) of Medicine in 2005 in honor of Dr. Everett L. Dargan, one of South Carolina's preeminent humanitarians and thoracic and cardiovascular surgeons. Through scholarships to promising, under represented minority students, the USC School of Medicine hopes to continue Dr. Dargan's legacy by equipping a new generation of effective physicians and future role models.
Dr. Cooper still enjoys a viable practice in Columbia of more than 50 years. He belongs to more than 10 professional societies and associations and has belonged to more than 20 civic organizations, holding offices in many of them. Dr. Cooper (along with Dr. Frederick Jenkins) was the first of his race accepted for membership in the South Carolina Dental Association.
Dr .Cooper is married to the former Carole Jenkins. They have three sons: Dr. Noble P. Cooper Jr., a dentist in Columbia, S.C.; Dr. Ford S. Cooper, an orthodontist in Rock Hill, S.C.; and Martin D. Cooper, a design director, Outerwear, Worldwide: Burberry.

The Reverend Dr. Lawrence T. Glenn, Sr. was honored at the First Pioneer Award Dinner Celebration for his 50 years of ministry in the Presbytery of Detroit, Mich. on October 28, 2006, at the Fort Street Presbyterian Church in Detroit.
Class of 1975
Fred "Curly" Neal was featured in the Greensboro, NC News and Record Newspaper edition on September 17, 2006. He starred for the Harlem Globetrotters from 1963 to 1985. In those 22 years, he played more than 6,000 basketball games in 97 countries. He was inducted into the Guilford County, N.C. Sports Hall of Fame.

Brenda Adams Collins' poem "Great Expectations" was recently selected for publication in a poetry anthology entitled "Timeless Voices," published by the International Library of Poetry. She is a child development teacher and was recently selected by her peers as Dover Elementary School (North, S.C.) Teacher of the Year 2006-2007.
Class of 1978
Dr. Eldrenna Durham was the keynote speaker at the Schweinfurt-Peterstirn Rotary Club in Schweinfurt, Germany on October 11, 2006. She has been an educator for more than 29 years. She worked for the Department of Defense Dependents Overseas Schools in Japan, Korea and Germany for the last 24 years. She presently is principal of Schweinfurt Middle School in Schweinfurt, Germany. While working at Zama American High School in Japan, she received recognition for "Superior Performance in Teaching" and Teacher of the Year in 1990.

The Reverend Anthony Herring recently graduated in July from American InterContinental University with a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting & Finance.

Cary Mitchell was featured in The Charlotte Observer for helping middle school students design stylish school attire. He will guide a group of 30 or more students and a teacher committee through the design process during after-school meetings. They'll take a field trip to Atlanta to visit a fashion design school and The King Center. Several designs will be presented to students, and then to parents, for their approval.
Tyrone Parker has been appointed Region Vice President for the Southeast Region of Xerox Services. He was most recently Vice President, Lean Six Sigma for Xerox Services. He has 23 years of experience with Xerox and has held numerous positions in sales and services delivery operations, including Services Operations Manager, Support Manager, and various sales positions. His career with Xerox began in New Jersey as an account associate.

Jill Jinks has been appointed the 2006-07 chairperson of the executive committee for Jacksonville Community Council, Inc. (JCCI) Forward located in Jacksonville, Fla. She has been involved with JCCI for four years. JCCI Forward, an initiative of JCCI, is open to individuals 25 to 45 years of age who are interested in community involvement. She is also employed at Vurv Technologies as an accountant.
Ardra M. O'Neal recently opened his own law firm after practicing law for 10 years with a large law firm in Washington, D.C.

LaVonda Hallums Bowman, owner/director, opened Small Impressions Child Development Center on May 8, 2006, in Taylors, S.C. Small Impressions (SI) is a child development center that offers the best "high" quality child care possible for working parents. The center caters to children 6 weeks to 12 years of age.

Viticus Thomas is currently working at Johnson C. Smith University as an admissions counselor and the university band announcer.
